The English Language Centre (ELC) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is seeking qualified individuals for anticipated positions as ‘English Language Teaching Assistant’ (ELTA). Successful ELTA candidates will a) be Macau residents; b) have graduated recently (2014 or later) from universities in Macao, Hong Kong, Mainland China, or the nearby region; c) provide English-medium activities for UM students both inside and outside the classroom, including within UM’s Residential Colleges; and d) live and work with ELC Summer Immersion and UM students in an English-medium environment.
Candidates should have a recent (obtained within the last two years) Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. English Studies, English Education, TEFL/TESL or Applied Linguistics) from an accredited program, a high command of the English language, both orally and in writing, as well as experience in organizing language learning activities. Candidates must hold a temporary or permanent Macau Resident ID card. Applicants should have their degree in hand upon application.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in early November.
Position and Remuneration
This position is a short-term appointment of no more than 7 months, with the possibility of a second 10-month contract upon mutual agreement. The offered and taxable salary level shall be determined according to the appointee’s academic qualifications, current position, and professional experience.
English Language Teaching Assistant: MOP10,240– 15,360 (USD1 approx. =MOP8)
Teaching duties are not required. The main tasks will be to host creative, interesting, and educational activities for undergraduate students in English, including at the semester’s English Festival.
