The Department of Portuguese of University of Macau is seeking up to two qualified individuals for anticipated positions as ‘Teaching Fellow’. The purpose of the teaching fellow program is to provide Master’s degree graduates in Translation Studies, Second Language Acquisition in Portuguese or Applied Linguistics in Portuguese (or closely related field) with: a) teaching experience; b) the opportunity to work with faculty and the Department of Portuguese on special projects in an area of professional interest or expertise engagement in language and cultural exchange.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have a recent Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Translation Studies, Second Language Acquisition in Portuguese, or Applied Linguistics in Portuguese) from an accredited program. Applicants with experience in teaching Portuguese will have an advantage. Applicants should have their degree in hand upon application.
The successful candidates also need to possess excellent organizational abilities and communication skills. The candidate should also be willing to provide out-of-class activities to students in Portuguese as required.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2017.
Position and Taxable Salary
The position offered and taxable salary ranged from MOP20,480 to MOP28,670 (USD1 approx. = MOP8) shall be determined according to the appointee's academic qualifications, current position, and professional experience.
Teaching duty is required.
*10-month appointment with possibility of a second 10-month contract upon mutual agreement.
